СRO

is a German rapper, singer and DJ. Real name Carlo Waibel. CRO was born in Baden-Württemberg in 1990. Cro's alias is a shortened version of his given name, Carlo. In addition to music, he also dabbled in writing and design. The singer himself says that he performs " Raop ”, that is, a mixture of rap and pop music (Rap- und Pop-Musik). If the old-timer of the German music scene, Udo Lindenberg, has sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat as his distinguishing feature, then the representative of the new generation Cro has made his panda mask his feature, behind which his face is not visible. In this mask, the singer performs at concerts, starred in videos and even gives interviews. Oh those stellar quirks!

But, no, in fact, the mask for the singer is protection. Cro says that without a mask, he can safely walk the streets without fear of being recognized. “It's good for my character. If I didn’t have a mask, I would probably treat other people differently, maybe star disease would appear. The mask is a protective shield. If it were not for her, we would have to behave like the last villain and defend ourselves with this.»

Maxim(Maxim Richards)
performs reggae and pop music. To date, Maxim has already released four albums, and from September 29, the fifth album of the singer will be available. "Reprise". In one of the interviews, the singer admits that he wanted to complain less, which is probably difficult for a native German, because, as they joke in Germany, “Jammern ist die erste deutsche Pflicht”. A song about trying to drown out the pain after a breakup "Meine Soldaten" received an unexpectedly strong response from the public. Many wrote personal stories to the singer, told about their experiences and thanked for the composition, which helped to survive this difficult time:

And here, in addition to the cool track, is not just a clip, but a whole gangster movie:

Clueso(Thomas Hubner)
is a rapper, songwriter and producer from Erfurt. The singer has already published his first book, Clueso. Von und über", which contains photos, lyrics and stories about the artist. If, at the age of 90, Thomas would have had a chance to regain either the body or the mind of his thirty-year-old self, the singer would have opted for ... the body! The singer has a very good relationship with his grandfather, who, by the way, is also into music and is very proud of his grandson's success. Thomas considers him a friend and always tries to find time to meet between tours.

Latest album "Neuanfang" was released in 2016. In the same year, the artist received the German 1Live listeners' award as the best performing musician.

bushido
is a rapper from Berlin with a dark past. From the age of 14 he was already dealing drugs, and in the 11th grade he was expelled from the gymnasium. Instead of jail time for drug possession, Bushido went to community service.

The main theme of the rapper's first songs is the hard life on the outskirts of Berlin, which he knew firsthand, the drug and arms trade. Since 2008, Bushido has been in the real estate business. In the same year, the rapper publishes his autobiographical book, which took 1st place on the bestseller list at the book fair in Frankfurt am Main.

The scandalous rapper has repeatedly paid fines for insulting policemen, fighting, was accused of plagiarizing music by Swedish and French performers, and was also suspected of having links with one mafia clan. 3 sounds terrifying! But the terrible and terrible Bushido can be different:

Max Giesinger
is a German singer and songwriter. Max played in his first band at the age of 13. And after the exams at the gymnasium, he flew away for a year under the Work-&-Travel program to Australia and New Zealand, where he was a street musician.

The singer's popularity began with Youtube, where he uploaded his covers of famous songs or compositions of his own composition. Upon returning home, Max performed in the German version of the show "Voice", where he was coached by the singer Xavier Naidoo, and in which he took 4th place.

In 2014, the singer had to part ways with his producer and began a crowdfunding campaign for his album. We managed to raise funds in the first 24 hours! Song "80 Millions" from the album "Der Junge, der rennt" became a radio hit. In 2016, for the World Cup, Max made a new, football version of this song.

Mark Forster
is a singer-songwriter, born in 1984 in Rhineland-Palatinate. After a successful collaboration with rapper Sido in 2013, Mark hit the top ten artists in Germany and Switzerland for the first time. After Sido also took part in the song "Au revoir" in Mark's second album "Bauch und Kopf". The song peaked at number 2 on the German hit parade and received three gold records in Germany and platinum status in Switzerland.

Mark never makes videos when attending concerts - this prevents him from enjoying the atmosphere. But at the same time, he himself has nothing against it if his fans take out their smartphones during the performance and turn on the camera mode - the artist perceives this as a kind of "applause".

Andreas Bourani
grew up in Bavaria in a foster family, where he got a few days after his birth and was brought up under the new name Stiegelmair. Andreas never knew his blood parents, presumably from North Africa.

At the beginning of his musical career, the artist returned his last name - Bourani, in order to protect his parents from publicity. The singer was previously a member of the Catholic Church, but later left it and now follows the teachings of the Buddha.

Sido(Paul Hartmut Würdig)
is a rapper and actor from Berlin, he, like Bushido, is still a dark horse. The singer's nickname means "Super-intelligentes Drogenopfer"("Super-intelligent drug victim"), which already says a lot. Paul's childhood cannot be called prosperous: the future star of the rap scene dropped out of school for drug use, grew up with a single mother and sister, wandered in the Berlin ghettos populated by immigrants.

Sido is distinguished by provocative, obscene lyrics. This is quite consistent with his character: in 2012, on the ORF show, during a discussion with Austrian radio reporter Dominik Heinzl, the singer lost his temper and, in a fit of aggression, punched the reporter in the face, causing him to fall. However, here is Edward Snowden Sido generously offered asylum in his house.

Helene Fischer
- a performer of hits and pop music known throughout Germany and abroad, she was born in Siberia in the city of Krasnoyarsk. Helena's family belonged to the Volga Germans, who were exiled to Siberia in 1941. In 1988, when Helena was 4 years old, the Fischer family moved to Germany as "German settlers". Already in Germany, Helena graduated from the private music school Stage & Musical School, and in 2005 made her debut on one of the ARD programs. Since 2011, the singer has been hosting the annual Christmas show Die Helene Fischer Show where both German singers and actors and world celebrities perform. This spring, the singer's eighth studio album, Helene Fischer, was released.

Glasperlenspiel
is a German electro-pop group founded in 2003. The duo chose this name in honor of the novel of the same name. G. Hesse "The Glass Bead Game».

The group has released three albums. By the way, members of the duo Carolin Niemczyk and Daniel Grunenberg admitted that they are partners not only on stage, but also in life. In numerous interviews, the artists are tired of fighting off questions about the wedding, and, meanwhile, admit that it is not easy to combine work and life together. Therefore, even on tours, the guys try to set aside time “for themselves”, take a walk in a new city alone or with other participants in the tour, sit in different places on the bus - in general, relax each other.

Carolyn is in charge of the household, and Daniel handles money better, but he also hangs on the phone longer. Carolyn dreams of traveling around the world with a backpack on her back, she believes that it will be useful to look at the world through the eyes of other people, to find out how they live.

Fettes Brot
- a hip-hop group from Hamburg has been performing since 1992 and during this time has released six studio albums, on its account such popular hits as "Nordisch by Nature", "Jein" and "Emanuela", and this group has also received many prestigious music awards (MTV Europe Music Awards, Echo and Comet).

Die Fantastischen Vier
- the old-timers of German hip-hop, however, already from Stuttgart.
The group is one of the most famous in the German-speaking hip-hop. The popularity of the group came after the release of the song Die Da, which took first place in the charts in Austria and Switzerland, and in Germany - second place. The band members voiced the penguins in the German versions of the cartoons Madagascar and Madagascar-2.

And if you have favorite performers, then write in the comments.

Most of Tokio Hotel's lyrics are written in German.

7. Die Toten Hosen

According to the "main" legend, the German punk band Die Toten Hosen was born thanks to ... the most ordinary pizza! This happened back in the distant 1980s, when Campino and Andy, the future legendary German punk musicians, and then still newbies and real friends, besides great pizza lovers, decided to order this very pizza by phone. Having called the local delivery service, the guys began to wait for the peddler of this high-calorie and tasty Italian dish. When he arrived, Campino and Andi, already pretty tipsy, invited the guy to share a meal with them. He, without thinking twice, agreed. As a result, the gatherings turned into a kind of "kvartirnik" - a home concert. As it turned out, the pizza guy played the guitar pretty well. Today the whole world knows him as Kuddel, the famous guitarist of Die Toten Hosen. So, with pizza, the history of one of the most famous punk bands in Germany and the world began.

The group actively advocates for the anti-fascist movement, often calling for the fight against racism and nationalism at their concerts. Members of the group support Greenpeace and anti-globalization campaigns, oppose nuclear power plants and the use of fur for clothes. Many songs denounce the negative attitude towards foreigners, the lack of political and environmental understanding.
Die Toten Hosen are patriots of their hometown. In the late 80s, the group donated DM 200,000 to the Fortuna Düsseldorf football club for the purchase of player Anthony Baffoe. Also, the group signed a contract with the local brewery "Diebels" and supports the youth team "Fortune" with the proceeds, which now wears the band's logo on T-shirts. The members of the group want to be buried in Düsseldorf and therefore have already booked graves in the city's southern cemetery.

8 La Fee

Christina Klein (German: Christina Klein; December 9, 1990, Aachen), known as LaFee, is a German pop-rock singer. Translated from French, La" Fee means "Fairy." LaFee's first single "Virus" ("Virus") from her debut album was released in 2006. LaFee has been supported by Bravo and Sener's Viva magazines from the very beginning of her career. "Virus" reached number 14 on the German and Austrian charts, while her second single "Prinzesschen" ("Princess") reached number 11 on the German charts. "Was ist das?" ("What's This?") and "Mitternacht" ("Midnight") also held positions on the charts.
In 2009, the singer left her group and pursued a solo career. The musicians who performed with her under the name LaFee meanwhile changed the name of the group to Tief (German for deep) and began working with a new vocalist Jana Wall (Jana Wall).

9Annette Louisan

Annette Louisan (German: Annette Louisan, real name Annette Pege) is a German singer. She was born on April 2, 1977 in Havelberg.

Until the age of 13, Annette lived with her grandparents in Schönhausen on the Elbe, and then moved to Hamburg with her mother. Here she began to attend the Higher School of Arts.

The girl borrowed the pseudonym Louisan from her grandmother Louise. Fame came to Annette after the release of her chanson song "Das Spiel". Lyrics were written by Frank Ramon and music by Hardy Kaiser and Matthias Hass. The debut album "Boheme", released in 2004, was certified gold six weeks after its premiere, and nine weeks later - platinum. But that's not all. "Boheme" was named the fastest selling album in the history of the German music industry. Concert tickets sold out instantly. The tour, scheduled for spring 2005, included 25 German cities (including Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich and Berlin) and was more than successful.

The second disc of the performer called "Unausgesprochen" was released in 2005 and incorporated only the best traditions of the French-German chanson. Louisan used such popular styles of music as waltz, tango and bossa nova. The album stayed on the German national chart for over 50 weeks. The spring and fall of 2006 were spent on countless tours.

Annette Louisan performed the theme song "Der kleine Unterschied" for the German comedy Why Men Never Listen and Women Can't Park. As a result, the composition was included in the soundtrack for the film, recorded by James Last, and in the third album of the singer herself "Das optimale Leben". After the release of another solo album, Annette Louisan went on her third tour.

10. Fettes Brot

German hip hop group from Hamburg formed in 1992 after the breakup of Poets of Peeze. The band released six studio albums and numerous singles, some of which reached the top ten in the German charts. Their best known songs include such hits as "Nordisch by Nature", "Jain" and "Emanuela". Fettes Brot has received multiple awards from the MTV Europe Music Awards, Echo and Comet.

The name of the group is translated from German literally as "Fatty bread". It was chosen by the musicians after one of their first performances, when one fan complimented them by calling their show "Fettes Brot" (slang for fett - "great"). They liked the unusual expression so much that they decided to name the group with these words, abandoning the originally planned "Boris und die Herzbuben"

11. Heino

Heino is a German singer who is known for his baritone voice and his blond hair paired with dark sunglasses. Born in 1938.

12. Max Raabe

Max Raabe (Max Raabe) is not quite an ordinary German singer-stylizer, a troll parodist, rehashing other people's well-known hits in the manner of the 20s and 30s of the twentieth century.

Acquired fame after the performance of Kein Schwein ruft mich an. The combination of cabaresh and retro chanson motifs of the twenties and thirties of the last century, the image of the noble don soloist, his somewhat stubborn appearance, “meowing” vocals and ambiguously joking text caused a very serious cognitive dissonance among the public, and the pitiful song was indiscriminately dragged through answering machines, and telephone companies seethed and asked the price.

13. Nena

Néna (real name Gabriele Kerner, German Gabriele Susanne Kerner; born March 24, 1960, Breckerfeld) is a German singer and actress, a representative of Neue Deutsche Welle, and the group of the same name that existed in 1981-1987, in which Gabriele Kerner was the soloist. After the breakup of the group, Gabriele Kerner continued her solo career under the name Nena (from Spanish Niña - little girl).

Which German performers are popular in Germany but not popular in Russia? and got the best answer

Answer from????[guru]
In the 1990s, such genres as rock, punk rock and heavy metal were popular in Germany. German groups of that time are known far beyond the borders of the country, for example, in Russia, the Rammstein team gained particular popularity. But there were other rock bands that did not have a large army of fans around the world, but they all definitely contributed to the development of German rock music. Rosenstolz and Die Prinzen - representatives of pop rock, Beatsteaks - punk rock and alternatives, also performers in mixed genres were also popular, for example: Sportfreunde Stiller - Indie rock, MIA group - German rock and pop, Oomph! - Industrial metal and EBM (Electronic body music).
But along with rock, the hip-hop genre developed in Germany, German rap blew up the public in 1992 with the hit "Die Da" recorded in Stuttgart by the group Die Fantastischen Vier. And it all started in the 80s, graffiti, break dance and all that.
Definitely the dominant style in this country is German electronic music. We all know the name Paul van Dyck. And one of the first bands that recorded music entirely on electronic equipment was Kraftwerk, since 1970 they have been releasing albums, like real mammoths of the German scene. The Germans are among the most advanced in this direction. Die Liste der German Gruppen:

Answer from Irina Chistova[active]
Plain and simple: Tokyo Hotel. I hate and don't listen

Answer from ^(o,o)^[guru]
There are a lot of those. As already noted, mainly in electronic music.
Two more solid bands, In Strict Confidence and YelworC, which appeared in the late 1980s in Germany, for a long time remained known in Russia only in very narrow circles of electro-industrial fans. Both bands existed for more than 20 years (Yelworc sort of disbanded after 2008), but we started to listen to them more "massively" only in the late 1990s
Of the younger bands, only now we are gaining popularity in general, a good band Agonoize, they began to come to Russia more often, but again, they are mostly listened to by lovers of the respective genres. From this area, the groups Centhron, X-RX are becoming more popular, including in our country - their music is more dance, club, but dancing to such music is the prerogative of cybergoths, therefore these groups are the main popularity among them.
In general, the German electronic underground is still interesting mainly to confident fans of it. Even German rock and metal artists are on average more famous.

Nowadays German music is highly regarded all over the world. Germany is known for musicians who were born here and turned the whole world upside down with their creativity. But a few decades ago, those who sang in German were not taken seriously by society. Today, Germans can proudly listen to the best German music in absolutely all genres in their native language.

There are several trends in German contemporary music:

Hits: music of the 60s-70s - world-famous German songs by popular artists. Among them are Wolfgang Petry and Mariono Rosenberg.

New German wave or Neue Deutsche Welle (NDW, Neue Deutsche Welle) allowed Nene (Nena) to become famous; Peter Schlling; Hubert Kah; group "Ideal" (Ideal).

German classical music Played by: Reinhard Mey Konstantin Wecker (Konstantin Wecker) and Max Raabe (Max Raabe) - a musician carrying the legacy of the first German pop group Die Comedian Harmonists (Die Comedian Harmonists, 1938-1929), which broke up in 1935.

Representatives of the punk direction:"Toten Hosen" (Toten Hosen); "Erzte" (Arzte); "Kraftwerke" (Kraftwerke) and Nina Hagen (Nina Hagen) - playing punk music, the singer brought a lot of new things to the cultural life of Germany. Her piercing, high-pitched vocals excite the imagination.

Hip hop rappers:"Fantastiche Fir" (Fantastischen Vier - "Fantastic Four"); "Tic-Tac Toe" (Tic Tac Toe); "Fünf House Party" (Fünf Haus Party - "Five House Parties"); "Di Sterne" (Die Sterne - "Stars").

Legendary techno and electro musicians:

  • Sven Vath is a Frankfurt-born DJ and producer turned popular star. Fat was greatly influenced by the German and international techno movement. And still in Ibiza the musician plays techno music.
  • Klaus Schulze - His musical career began as a drummer. But soon he began to engage in electronic music, which he continues to do to this day. Schulze is considered a pioneer of electronic music. Unlike his colleagues, he resorted to meditative music and epic sound collages.
  • D.A.F. Partei (D.A.F. Partei) is an electronic music-oriented band, considered a model in the electro and techno genres. 30 years ago, the band began their creative journey under the name D.A.F., playing mostly punk music and minimally electronic tracks.
  • "Kraftwerk" (Kraftwerk) - musicians from Düsseldorf, who were the first to add synthesizer sounds to German pop music of numerous musical generations and thereby created a new idea. They changed the face of music forever and are still very popular in Germany today.
  • DJ "Bobo" (DJ Bobo);
  • "Blumchen" (Blümchen - "Flowers").

Rock, pop, metal and their brightest representatives:

  • "Tokio Hotel" (Tokio Hotel) is a famous German band that has gained popularity far beyond the borders of its native Magdeburg. Their work motivates young people from different countries to learn German.
  • Die Krupps - founded in the early 1980s, this group has been holding its own for three decades. Their first album was released in 1981 under the title "Stahlwerksinfonie" ("Stalwerksinfonie").
  • "Kreator" (Kreator) - a group with some satanic elements, unusual vocals, playing in the style of metal.
  • Frank Farian is a deep-voiced singer whose performances have been hits for decades. Glory to Farian came in the eighties, then he won a Grammy. Initially, his music was ridiculed, but famous hits still fill the dance floors.
  • "Scorpions" (Scorpions) - bright representatives of German rock, are among the leaders of the top German groups. Having gained popularity in Japan, the group moved to America and for 50 years now pleases the whole world with their singles.
  • "Sodom" (Sodom) - one of the most popular German musical groups, which had a huge impact on the musical direction of metal, and still remains at the peak of popularity.
  • "Accept" (Accept) - a group that founded a typical Teutonic metal, popular in their homeland, in North and South America and in Japan.
  • Rammstein is a hard rock band known for their provocative lyrics and impressive fiery performances. The Grammy Award winners, the band members, still delight their fans to this day.

The list of German bands and performers, of course, does not end there. Although the reputation of Germany as an important musical country is based on the names of Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Handel and Strauss, German performers and musicians are increasingly occupying places in the musical arena not only of the country, but of the world.

Modern trends in German music are helping to attract an increasing number of students to Germany's music academies, and music lovers visit a variety of festivals: from the Wagner Festival in Bayroth to the Donaueschingen Festival of Contemporary Music.
