A year has passed since I graduated from Alma Mater, namely the Perm State Pharmaceutical Academy in my beloved city of Perm. It was a difficult and at the same time intense and happy 6 years of difficult study, varied communication and limitless life experience. I still proudly remember the moment when the rector announced a passing grade based on the results of three exams in chemistry, biology and the Ukrainian language. My heart almost jumped out of my chest when I heard the number and realized that...

In our country there is a specialized university for training pharmacists. It is called the Perm Pharmaceutical Academy (PGFA). Officially, this educational institution has existed for several decades, but its origins arose a century ago. In 1918, a pharmaceutical department was opened in Perm. It started working on the basis of a local classical university.

Foundation of the educational institution

The pharmaceutical department, later transformed into the chemical-pharmaceutical faculty, existed for quite a long time. The training of specialists was carried out until 1930 - until the classical university was closed. When the educational organization ceased to exist, the Chemical and Pharmaceutical Faculty began independent activities. It announced the enrollment of students, becoming a chemical-technological institute.

A year later, the formed higher education institution was transferred to another locality. In order to train pharmacists again, a pharmaceutical faculty was opened in the city of Perm on the basis of the Perm Medical Institute, and in 1936 this structural unit became an independent educational institution. The new university was named Perm State Pharmaceutical Institute.

University development

In 1995, the educational institution could already sum up its past activities and outline plans for the future, because a new page in its history had begun. The institute was transformed into an academy. Today, the educational organization continues to bear this status. She has not yet reached university status, but she still has everything ahead of her.

Today the university is a fairly developed and modern educational institution. The Perm Pharmaceutical Academy is located in 5 educational buildings, has its own educational and production pharmacy, and a nursery of medicinal plants. To carry out high-quality activities, the required number of classrooms has been equipped, and a considerable number of laboratories have been equipped (for example, laboratories for biotechnological research, nuclear magnetic resonance).

Internal structure

Perm Pharmaceutical Academy includes 3 main divisions:

  1. Faculty of Pre-University Training of Youth. It is here that some future students begin their studies at the university. This structural unit prepares applicants for passing the exams required for admission (Russian language, chemistry, biology, mathematics at the profile level).
  2. Faculty of full-time education. This unit, as the name implies, is engaged in the implementation of full-time education in all available educational programs - in “chemical technology” and “biotechnology” of the bachelor’s degree, in “pharmacy” of the specialty and in the “pharmacy” department of secondary vocational education.
  3. Correspondence department of the PSFA. In this structural unit, training is carried out only in the “pharmacy” specialty.

There are also 2 additional faculties in the structure. One of them prepares foreign citizens for university studies. Another division is called the Faculty of Additional Professional Education. Its mission is to implement advanced training and professional retraining programs.

Students about the educational process at PSFA

Students say that the educational process is organized at the proper level in this university in the city of Perm. For lectures there are 5 large halls with a capacity of 600 seats. These classrooms have multimedia installations. Subjects are studied by students not only from books and information that is provided electronically. Visual aids, various models, etc. are often used in classes.

Training in specialties is not complete without practical training, as in any other higher education institution. In the I, III and IV years, students undergo several educational practices:

  • pharmaceutical propaedeutic in the first semester (4 days);
  • fieldwork in botany in the second semester (2 weeks);
  • medical orientation in the V semester (4 days);
  • on pharmacognosy in the VI semester (4 weeks);
  • in general pharmaceutical technology in the VIII semester (1 and 1/3 weeks).

In the fifth year, practical training begins. There are 3 of them - on quality control of medicines (more than 2 weeks), on pharmaceutical technology (more than 2 weeks) and on the management and economics of pharmacy institutions (12 weeks).

What students say about dormitories

Nonresident students who want to study in medical specialties can safely enter the Perm Pharmaceutical Academy. The university has a dormitory and more than one. The educational organization owns 2 buildings, which are located in the city center.

First It includes one-, two- and five-room apartments. The total number of students that can be accommodated here is 688 people. The second dormitory is standard, corridor type. Each room of the building is occupied by 3 people. The total number of places is 600.

Students say that the dormitories are well equipped. They contain:

  • self-study rooms;
  • libraries with reading rooms;
  • canteens;
  • rooms for amateur performances;
  • sports rooms;
  • Internet class (in dormitory no. 2).
